Community Guidelines
Effective: April 21, 2026
My Treat is a platform for discovering and organizing group activities in your city. These guidelines exist to keep the community safe, respectful, and fun for everyone. Violating these guidelines may result in warnings, temporary suspension, or permanent removal from the platform.
1. What My Treat Is (and Isn't)
My Treat IS for:
- Hosting or joining group activities at public venues
- Discovering new experiences in your city
- Meeting new people through shared interests
- Organizing paid group experiences (tours, classes, events)
- Finding activities you're interested in attending
My Treat is NOT for:
- Dating, companionship, or romantic encounters
- Escort or personal companion services
- Private one-on-one meetups with strangers
- Selling products, services, or solicitation
- Any illegal activity
2. Posting Rules
When creating a post, you must:
- Be honest: Accurately describe the activity, location, and any costs
- Keep it public: All meetups must take place at public venues or in group settings
- Respect the format: Use the correct post type (Hosting, Paid Experience, or Looking)
- Use appropriate language: No profanity, slurs, sexual language, or discriminatory content
- Include real photos: Photos should represent the actual activity or venue. Stock photos and misleading images are not allowed
Automatic content screening
Posts are automatically screened for prohibited language. Content suggesting dating, sexual or romantic encounters, escort or companionship services, hookups, or other private encounters will be blocked. Posts may also be reviewed by AI moderation and flagged for manual review if potentially unsafe.
3. For Paid Experiences
If you're hosting a Paid Experience:
- Clearly state the per-person cost and what it covers
- The activity must take place at a public venue
- Payment is handled directly between participants at the venue - My Treat does not process payments
- You must sign an attestation that the event follows these guidelines
- New hosts may require admin review before their paid posts go live
4. Communication Standards
When chatting with other users:
- Be respectful and courteous
- Do not send unsolicited sexual, threatening, or harassing messages
- Use in-app chat as your default for coordinating with other attendees. Sharing phone numbers for day-of logistics is fine once both of you have confirmed you're attending the same meetup - and don't pressure anyone for their number if they haven't offered it
- Keep conversations relevant to the planned activity
5. Safety First
Your safety is our top priority. We provide several tools and we expect everyone to use them responsibly:
Trust scores
Every user has a trust score that reflects their reliability and community standing. Scores are affected by reviews, cancellations, and reports. Check trust scores before accepting connections.
Photo verification
Verified users have confirmed their identity through our photo verification process. While optional, verification builds trust and is strongly encouraged.
Blocking and reporting
If you encounter inappropriate behavior, use the in-app tools to:
- Block a user to prevent all further contact
- Report a user with a description of the issue
Reports are reviewed promptly. False or malicious reports are themselves a violation of these guidelines.
Meeting safely
- Always meet in public places - every My Treat meetup is at a public venue, not a private residence
- Tell someone you trust where you're going
- Trust your instincts - if something feels off, leave
- If you're using your own car to carpool, share a public pickup point (a coffee shop, a parking lot, a transit stop) rather than your home or work
6. Cancellation Policy
Each post has a cancellation policy chosen by the host:
- Flexible: Cancel anytime with no penalty
- Standard: 24-hour grace period before trust score impact
- Strict: Full commitment expected - cancellations affect trust score
Repeated no-shows or last-minute cancellations may result in account restrictions regardless of the chosen policy.
7. Attendance, cancellations and reviews
Posts with a set date and time (Hosting, Paid Experiences, and Looking posts that include a time) follow a simple, predictable lifecycle so everyone knows what to expect. This does not apply to sponsor or business listings.
Start and end times
When you create an event you set a start time, and you can optionally set an end time. If you do not set an end time, we assume the event runs about two hours.
Cancelling
A host can cancel up to 15 minutes after the start time. After that the event is treated as having happened, so instead of cancelling, mark anyone who did not attend as a no-show (see below). Your chosen cancellation policy still governs any trust-score impact.
No-shows
Starting 15 minutes after the event begins, you can mark the other person as a no-show if they did not turn up. A no-show can be recorded once and cannot be undone, so use it only when someone genuinely did not attend. Anyone marked as a no-show cannot leave a review for that meetup, but the person who marked them can still leave one. Repeated no-shows may lead to account restrictions.
After the event and reviews
Your chat stays open for 30 minutes after the event ends so latecomers can still coordinate. After that the connection closes and the review window opens. Honest, respectful reviews keep the community trustworthy, so we encourage you to leave one.
8. Prohibited Content
The following content is not allowed anywhere on the platform:
- Nudity, sexually explicit material, or sexual solicitation
- Hate speech, discrimination, or slurs targeting any group
- Threats of violence or encouragement of self-harm
- Spam, scams, phishing, or deceptive content
- Illegal drug references or promotion of illegal activity
- Content involving minors
- Impersonation of other users or public figures
- Sharing others' private information without consent
9. Enforcement
Violations are handled based on severity:
- Warning: First-time minor violations receive a written warning
- Temporary suspension: Repeated violations or moderate offenses result in a time-limited suspension
- Muting: Users may be temporarily restricted from messaging
- Permanent ban: Serious violations (threats, harassment, illegal activity) result in immediate permanent removal
All enforcement decisions are at our discretion. Attempting to circumvent enforcement actions (creating new accounts after a ban) will result in immediate removal.
10. Changes
We may update these guidelines as the community grows. Material changes will be communicated via in-app notification. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
